Abstract

Differentiation of an incidental adrenal lesion into benign and malignant etiologies is an endeavor with significant and obvious clinical benefit. Advances in imaging now enable this differentiation in high proportion of patients in a non‐invasive manner. The ACR guidelines elaborated in this review seek to promote clinically meaningful, evidence‐based approach to an IAL. Knowledge of the potential as well the limitations of individual modalities is essential so as to streamline investigations in a cost‐effective manner. J. Surg. Oncol. 2012; 106:543–548. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
